What's new in Framiac 9.02
Add an Easy Setup Wizard.
The Easy Setup Wizard helps framers setup pricing with just a few clicks.

FramR will now run under a limited user account.
Framers with secure networks will appreciate not requiring computer administrator accounts to run FramR.

Support for 64 bit versions of Windows added.

What does that mean? Until recently almost all PCs were 32 bit. Today many PCs are 64 bit. The change will make little or no difference to most businesses.

Time matboard cutouts in fractions of a minute.

What does that mean? Previously, the time you could allow for matboard cutouts was based on whole minutes, now you can allow fractions of a minute.

Why on earth would you want to do that? Framers who have a computerised matcutter know why. Once setup, a CMC can do a large number of cutouts quickly. If you wish, you can now allow less than a minute for each cutout (eg 0.5 minutes).

Job Types.

Jobs can now be classified according to Job Type ... print, photo etc. Now you can see which types of jobs are more profitable for you. To find out, click Admin/Reports/Job Types. To enter Job Types, click Admin/Job Types. To find out more, click Help/Find Help/Job Types.

Staff Reporting.

Who is your best designer?. Who makes the most sales? Who generates the most profit on sales? To find out who, click Admin/Reports/Staff. To update staff details, click Admin/Staff. To find out more, click Help/Find Help/Staff.

Lookup clients by email address.

Turn off overdue warning.

What does this mean?. If a job is saved or modified with a due date that has passed, a warning appears. Framers who are habitually behind in their work, can now turn this warning off and so remain blissfully unaware. Go to the Administration form to turn this warning on or off.

A referral source can now be deleted even if clients or jobs have been assigned to that referral source. This allows mailouts which have been saved as a referral source, but withdrawn before sending, to be effectively cancelled. Clients or jobs that have been assigned to that referral source are allocated to referral source UNKNOWN.

Show Transaction allows you to view all transactions for a particular Client. To view all transactions for a particular client, open the Client form and click Transactions. This feature is useful if you take a payment, but lost track of which job it belongs to. The date of the transaction, whether it was an invoice, an invoice payment, a job, or job payment, the job number or invoice number and the amount are displayed.

Letterheads and hyperlinks can now be included in backup.

What does this mean?. A hyperlink can be used to link a job to a scanned image showing the layout of that job. It is important to backup the layout, as well as the job details. Go to the Administration form to turn this feature on. Any letterheads saved in the Framiac Letterheads folder, and your hyperlinks in the Framiac Hyperlinks folder, can then be automatically backed up when your company file is backed up.

The installation folder for Framiac is now C:\Framiac. Comprehensive help is included for setting up network installations of Framiac.

FramR now directly supports chop service as well as chopped and assembled. You are able to set in the Moulding Catalog whether you
normally purchase a moulding by the meter, chopped, or chopped and assembled.

When a moulding is selected on the Job form, FramR checks the catalog for that moulding. If you normally purchase that moulding by the meter, normal labor charges apply. If you purchase that moulding chopped, only your assembly charge applies. If you normally purchase that moulding chopped and assembled, no labor charges apply.

Neither wastage nor minimum material to charge are applied when chop, or chopped and assembled are used.

The Catalog Import Wizard allows you to specify the way you normally purchase from a given supplier. So if you normally buy chop, all new mouldings imported will be marked appropriately.

Administration of your company file is simplified and your settings are more secure. Framiac 7.2 simplifies administration by requiring a single login to a secure area. So for example, when you need to run periodical reports, you will log into the Admin or Stock Control areaonce, then run those reports without requiring further authentication for each report.

Administrative functions have been moved away from the Job form, so sales staff no longer see Settings/Markups, for example. There is an Admin button which takes you to the administration area where those admin functions become available.

Those secure features which may be required on the fly, such as secure Price Breakdown, or Delete Job, are available directly on the Job form, but prompt for authentication.

The Job form also makes Templates more explicit. Templates are important in ensuring jobs are priced appropriate to the way you manufacture. The Job form now has a Start With Template button, to make this more explicit to your staff.


Templates have a number of advantages: Create or edit templates from the Administration form.

Framiac 7.2 simplifies the administration of multiple installations. A Settings Import Wizard is included to allow you to
quickly align settings across shops.

The Job form now includes items as part of a job.

What does this mean?. Item sales are such things as giftware, or any fixed-price item. Previously, item sales were made on the Invoice form, as item sales were not considered part of a job.

However, in some circumstances it is appropriate to include an item sale as part of a job. One example of this is domed glass. Domed glass is bought and sold in a fixed size and at a fixed price. But domed glass is usually included as part of a framing job.

In previous versions of Framiac, jobs which included domed glass would require the domed glass to appear on an invoice as a separate item from the job. Now domed glass and other items can be priced as part of a job on the Job form.

The option remains to make item sales on an invoice, where that is appropriate.

A mailing label can now be printed for a single client. On the Client form, click File/Print Address Label. This complements the more significant improvements in mailing introduced in version 6.15.

Framers can now include notes on their invoices ... season's greetings, special of the month, payment terms or individual, personalised notes. See more details below.

Framiac FramR now has a space for notes on Quotes, Invoices and Statements: you can setup an automatic note, such as season's greetings / special of the month / payment terms, or edit a note "on the fly" to provide a personalised message for that client.

To setup an automatic note, click Settings/Sundries/Invoices.

Personalised notes can be entered directly on the invoice form.

There is now improved marketing with more powerful mailouts. In Framiac 6.15, you can mailout:

Clients who are members of your selected mailing lists.

Clients who were first entered in the date range selected. For example, send a welcome message to new clients.

Clients whose last job was in the date range selected. For example, send a follow up message to ensure clients were happy with the service.

Clients who had no mailout in the date range selected. For example, you like to contact everyone each month, so send a message to everyone who didn't get a message in the last month.

Clients who were not included in previous mailouts. Targeted marketing is the most effective form of marketing. This option can help you ensure you pick up those who were missed by your targeted mailouts, without unnecessarily contacting those who you contact regularly.

The Mailouts form will do all this via print mail, email, or mail merge for most desktop productivity software (Microsoft Office, Star Office, Open Office etc).

FramR will record the mailout and automatically detect when a client responds to that mailout ... your staff no longer need to remember to ask "did you get the information about ..." when the client brings in their next job, as FramR will remember for you.

The Referral Sources Report shows the effectiveness of your marketing campaigns. As responses to your campaigns are now recorded automatically, this report is now more accurate. The Referral Sources report will show you:

The NUMBER OF JOBS which come to you through each marketing campaign. So you can see which campaigns bring in the most work.

The VALUE OF THOSE JOBS. So you can see which campaigns bring in the most value.

The PROFIT MARGIN ON THOSE JOBS. So you can see which campaigns generate the most profit.

The CONVERSION RATE OF THOSE JOBS (the number of quotes which become confirmed orders). So you can see which campaigns generate genuine enquiries and which campaigns waste your time by attracting "tyre kickers".

Framiac 6.1 includes drop-down lists for towns. Now you no longer need to re-type the town or postcode for new clients.

No more typing Goondiwindi!
No more typing Christchurch!
No more typing Aberystwyth!

AND ... where you have already typed in the same town using various spellings, change it once under Settings/Client Administration/Towns and FramR will automatically correct all those clients with that incorrectly spelled address!
